Asa Killion

Asa A. Killion, 50 years of age, died at the state hospital in Clarinda, Sunday at noon. Mr. Killion was a resident of Orient township and had been receiving treatment at the state hospital.

Funeral services were held at the Killion home in Orient township, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. A. R. Weed of Madison county had charge of the services.

The pallbearers were Alva James, Tracey Flaugh, Howard Power, Ellis Jones, Carl Childs and Gail Wilson. Music for the services was furnished by Rev. and Mrs. Rowe, C. E. Andrews and Mrs. Charles Mitchell with Nina Wood as accompanist.

Interment took place in Peru.

Asa Alverna Killion was born near Truro, Madison county, Iowa, December 29, 1882 and departed this life May 21, 1933 at the age of 50 years, 4 months and 22 days.

Although in poor health for the past several years, his death came suddenly and was a shock to his family and friends.

He was united in marriage on December 23, 1905 to Zoa Weeks and to this union were born three sons and three daughters, Harold, Kenneth, Nola, Hazel, Ruth and Dale, who with their mother and his mother, Mrs. Lizzie McGlothlen of Winterset are left to mourn his departure.

Also his father, W. H. Killion and one half brother, Paul of Council Bluffs, besides a host of relatives and friends.

He spent his boyhood days in and around Truro but the greater part of his married life was spent in Union and Adair counties.

He was a kind and loving husband and affectionate father and a man who had many friends who will miss his cheery smile and welcome greeting.
