John Huston was born to Reuben and Anne Huston on Juoy 2, 1886, in Missouri. He moved as a child with the family to near Peru, Iowa. He passed from this life on March 7, 1964 at Rapid City, South Dakota.
In 1907 he was married to Opha Terry and farmed near Earlham until 1920. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ in Earlham. The family moved to Kennebec, South Dakota where he farmed and ranched for 27 years.
His wife passed away in 1946, and a year later he retired and moved to Rapid City, South Dakota.
Three children preceded him in death-Florence Huston, Paige, Robert and Albert.
In 1955, John married Jessie Armstrong in Rapid City, South Dakota. Surviving are his wife, Jessie; three sons, Raymond of Custer, South Dakota, Roscoe of Kennebec, South Dakota and Sadie Walters of Dansbury, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers: Harry of Kalispell, Montana, and Denver and Frank of Marshalltown, Iowa; and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Alexander and Mrs. Nellie Johnson of Marshalltown, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The funeral services were held at Rapid City, S. D., and at Earlham. The latter was held in the local Church of Christ on March 12 at two o'clock. The service was led by the pastor of the Friends church, L. Willard Reynolds. The music was in charge of Mrs. Leonard Welch. Soloist was Mrs. Darrell Slater. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery
