Charles W. Henry, a life-time resident of Madison county, died Friday, July 10 at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 90 years of age.
Mr. Henry's active life was spent here in farming and livestock buying. He was born in the county January 10, 1874, a son of Emanuel and Marriland Allen Henry. He had lived in Winterset since 1953.
He was married, as a young man, to Laura Schlarb. She preceded him in death. In 1947, he was married to Elma Rowen, who survives him.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, H. C. Henry of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Fern Anderson of Des Moines; three stepchildren, Mrs. Clifford Anderson, and Mrs. Thomas Avaux of Des Moines and Charles Rowen of Peoria, Illinois; one grandchild; one great grandchild; and two brothers, Ben Henry of Winterset and John Henry of Earlham.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the First Methodist church. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.
