MRS. EDITH DEWELL FUNERAL HELD TUESDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Dewell, former Winterset resident, who resided here with her son-in-law and daughter, Dr. an Mrs. T. B. Woods, were held Tuesday morning March 13th at Dunn's funeral home in Des Moines and burial was made in the Hedrick cemtery in Mahaska county.

Mrs. Dewell, the former Edith Redman was born on a farm near Hedrick, March 6, 1877 and lived there as a girl. She later attended school at Ames and was a graduate of Iowa State college in 1898. She taught school at Missouri Valley and later in Montana, and she and her husband, homesteaded land in South Dakota, near Winner in the early 1900's and he died there in 1911.

They were the parents of one daughter, Frances, and the mother and daughter moved to Des Moines following his death. She was a long time member of the University Christian church and she also belonged to the Women's club and other organizations there.

She moved to Tonkawa last August with her daughter, Mrs. Woods and family. As sudden heart attack, at the home in Tonkawa last Saturday morning March 10th caused her death.

In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Dewell is survived by two grandchildren, Kathy and Tommy Woods, and an aged brother, who is a retired minister in Kansas City. Mr. and Mrs. Woods stopped here briefly Monday enroute to Des Moines and plan to stop on the way back to Tonkawa later this week.
