Death of Ernest A. Busch

Ernest A. Busch, who was fatally injured when he was kicked by a horse, Monday, August 11th, died at the Winterset hospital early Thursday morning, August 14th, at the age of 35 years. Mr. Busch was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Busch, of Macksburg, and he was raised in that community.

He was married to Dulcie Moore January 31, 1917, and they were the parents of two sons and four daughters. The Buschs lived in South Dakota for several years after their marriage and later they resided in Olympia, Washington, for five years. In January, 1929, they returned to Madison county, and since then they have resided on the home farm.

In addition to his wife and children, he leaves six brothers: Wilbur, of Cedar Rapids; Elmer, of Cutknife, Saskatchewan, Canada; Louis A., of Yoder, Colorado; Carl, of Orient; Dwight, of Creston; and Stanley, of Winterset, and four sisters: Mrs. W. E. Kivett, of Lorimor; Mrs. Roy Augustine, Mrs. E. M. Kivett and Mrs. Roy Schultz, of Orient.

The Rev. A. P. Keast, of Winterset, held a brief service at Tidrick’s funeral home, Sunday, August 17th, at one o’clock, and at 2:30, the Rev. Eugene Alexander conducted funeral exercises at the Methodist church in Macksburg. Mr. Alexander was assisted by the Rev. C. M. Rowe, of Wesley Chapel, and burial was in the Moon cemetery near Macksburg.

Ernest A. Busch

Ernest Andrew Busch, son of Andrew and Charlotte Busch, was born near Macksburg, March 10, 1895. His boyhood was spent in the Macksburg neighborhood, where he was married to Dulcie V. Moore, January 31, 1917. To them were born two sons and four daughters.

They moved to South Dakota two years after their marriage, returning to Madison county in 1922. They afterwards lived for a short time in Lorimor, then moved to Olympia, Washington, where they engaged in fruit farming and then dairying for five years. They returned to the home place a year ago last January, where they have since lived.

While not a member of the local church where he attended, he partook of the communion, took an interest in the things of the church, and had a sincere faith in God.

After being injured on August 11, he lived only a few days, suffering much, and passed away on August 14th, at the age of 35 years, 5 months and 4 days. He leaves besides his wife and children, his father and mother; of Winterset; six brothers: Wilbur F., of Cedar Rapids; Elmer E., of Cutknife, Saskatchewan, Canada; Louis A. of Yoder, Colorado; Carl S., of Orient; Dwight B., of Creston, and Stanley R., of Winterset, and 4 sisters: Mrs. W. E. Kivett, of Lorimore (Lorimor), and Mrs. Roy Augustine, Mrs. E. M. Kivett and Mrs. Roy Schultz, of Orient. Besides these he leaves other relatives and many friends.

Rev. A. P. Keast held a brief service at Tidrick’s funeral home at one o’clock Sunday afternoon, August 17th, and at 2:30, the service was held in the Macksburg M. E. church, by the pastor, Rev. Eugene Alexander, assisted by Rev. C. M. Rowe, of Wesley Chapel, and burial was in the Moon cemetery near Macksburg.
