Winterset, IowaClark Clinton Conklin, was born April 16, 1919 in Warren County, Iowa. He was the first son of Jolly George Conklin and Alma F. Conklin. He passed away Sunday, September 22, 1974, at the age of 55 years, 5 months, and 5 days.
Clark spent most of his childhood life in and around Warren county. Clark was united in marriage to Esther Mayness on September 26, 1940. Clark served in the Army Air Force from 1945 to 1946, most of the service time being in Alaska. Clark has been with the farm store of Montgomery Ward in Des Moines for the past 27 years.
Clark and Esther resided in Boise, Idaho for a few months in 1972 where he was a member of the VFW Post 63.
Clark was baptized in the Baptist Church in 1941 and attended the Airport Baptist Church the past few years.
Clark is survived by his wife Esther, 3 daughters; Mrs. Barbara Daniels of Indianola, Mrs. Diane Bostwick of San Francisco, and Mrs. Jean Kemp of Halsey, Oregon; one sister, Velma Jean McIntyre, Earlham; two brothers, Delmar Dean Conklin of Perry, and Eldon Eugene Conklin of North Carolina; and four grandchildren, Jim and Fran Kemp, Chrystal Bostwick and Jodi Daniels. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
Clark was a kind and loving husband, father, and brother, and loved people. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 25, at Fisher funeral home in Van Meter. Burial was in Sayre cemetery at St. Charles.
