MORTUARY - George A. Tullis

George A. Tullis was born in Miami county, Ohio, Oct. 18, 1830. Age at death, 83 years, 2 months and 21 days.

After growing to manhood and his marriage to Elizabeth Merrick, March 18, 1858, he moved to Indiana, where he resided about ten years, coming to Iowa in the fall of 1883, where they resided till death claimed his companion, Nov. 22, 1912.

To them were born five children, Thomas, Josephine, Anderson, William and John. All have gone on before, with the exception of the last named, who with Mrs. J. L. Combs and three grandchildren and a host of friends mourn his loss

Uncle George, as he was familiarly known, became a christian in early manhood, uniting with the Christian church and remaining faithful to his Master, in whom he trusted. For many years, he has been an invalid, suffering greatly. He passed
to his reward Jan. 8, 1913 (sic) at 6:30 a.m.

The funeral services were held from the Christian church, of which he was a member, conducted by Rev. E. E. Bennett of Des Moines, a former pastor. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the Rock City cemetery.
