Mrs. Guile E. Moore

Ona Belle Hoots was born in Cole county, Illinois, Oct. 26, 1894 and came with her parents to Iowa at the age of six years, which place has remained her home, except a few years spent in Kansas. Here she has grown to womanhood, loved and respected by a large circle of friends. Her mother passed away in March 1911. Ona was one of a family of six children, two dying in infancy and James Francis died in August 1913. She was married Oct. 28, 1914 to Guile E. Moore at Spencer, Iowa and lived the first three years at Moneta, when they moved to Winterset.

To this home was born three daughters: Ethel Louise, four years; Wilma May, 18 months and a babe buried Tuesday morning. She passed away at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 10 1920, surrounded by loving friends and by members of the Rebekah lodge who had given every assistance possible.

Those left to mourn are the husband, two little daughters, the father, Edwin Hoots, a stepmother, sister, Mrs. Arthur Leinard and a brother, Clarence; besides the many relatives and friends.

In early life she was led to give herself to Christ and was converted uniting with the M. E. church while living in Kansas at about the age of 12 years and showed her interest and zeal by taking an active part in the Epworth League and as a teacher in the Sunday school. In the joy of her Christian life, she was eager to have her family enjoy this same fellowship. She took delight in the services of the church when circumstances made it possible for her to attend them and by this devotion and faithful service has been looked upon as an earnest Christian woman. In her going, the Altruist class of the M. E. Sunday school have realized a loss such as has not been felt in its membership since the class was organized.
