HELEN PATTERSON, Des Moines

Helen Roberta Patterson, 93, died Jan. 12, 2007, at the Ramsey Village in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Kale Funeral Home in Truro with Pastor Patricia Adams Oberbillig officiating. Burial was at Hartman Cemetery.

Helen Patterson was born Nov. 11, 1913, to Ernest and Lydia (Day) Holmes of Truro and was a graduate of Osceola High School. She was united in marriage to Pearl “Pat” Patterson in December of 1932. They resided in Truro for a few years before moving to Des Moines and later to Newton in the early 1940s. In 1956, they moved back to Des Moines. Helen, a homemaker, also worked as the executive director for the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Des Moines for several years. She was a member of the National Businesswomen’s Association.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Larry; and four brothers, Ivan Holmes, Max Dodd, Don Dodd and Chuck Dodd.

She is survived by one daughter, Lynn Paff of Des Moines; a brother, Joe Dodd of Missouri; two sisters, Wanda Calhoon of Ft. Dodge and Betty Woodrow of Minneapolis, Minn.; and three granddaughters and three great-granddaughters.
