Death Of C. F. Leeper In Earlham

Carroll F. Leeper, 81, of Earlham died at his home there Wednesday, February 22, 1978. He was born December 22, 1896 in Madison County.

The son of Jesse and Lyda Leeper, he was married to Elma Callison on April 2, 1919. The couple had three sons.

Mr. Leeper was an active member of the Early Chapel Christian Church, serving on the church board as a deacon. He worked at Farmer Co-op Elevator in Earlham after moving there from his farm 24 years ago.

Survivors include his wife, Elma; two sons, Lyle of Earlham and Gail of Winterset; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Cook of Winterset and seven grandchildren. He wa preceded in death by his son, Cornell in 1971.

Funeral services for Carroll Leeper were conducted Saturday, Feb. 25, at 10:30 a.m. from the Church of Christ in Earlham, Pastor Bernard Zylstra officiating. Burial was made at the Earlham Cemetery.

Carroll F. Leeper, son of Jesse and Lyda Leeper, was born December 22, 1896 on a farm in Madison county and resided on a farm in Madison county until moving to Earlham 24 years ago.

He was united in marriage to Elma Callison on April 2, 1919. To this union was born three sons: Corneil, Lyle and Gail.

For many years he was an active member of the Early Chapel Christian church, serving as a deacon and member of the church board.

After moving to Earlham he worked at the Farmers Co-op Elevator.

For the last few years he was partially confined to his home because of failing health.

Carroll is survived by his wife, Elma; two sons, Lyle and Gail, and their wives, Esther and Sally; one sister, Mrs. Gladys Cook of Winterset; seven grandchildren and many friends and relatives.

One son, Corneil, preceded him in death in 1971.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, at the Earlham Church of Christ with Pastor Bernard Zylstra officiating.

Honorary casket bearers were Wilbur Beeson, Everett Gilman, Fred Gonseth, Clifford Imboden, Hazen Morford, Glen Stegall, Sheldon Strong and Leonard Welch.

Casket bearers were Lester Boyle, Kenneth Callison, John Clague, Lloyd Clague, Roy Harris and Larree Imboden.

Interment was in the Earlham cemetery. McKee Funeral Home at Earlham made the arrangements.
