Services Held for Former Resident

Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dunn's Funeral Home in Des Moines for Mrs. Florence Cumings, 64, of Des Moines who died Wednesday at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital after an illness of several weeks. Burial was in the Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Cumings was born in Madison county, the daughter of William Leach and Lauria McDonald Leach and grew up in this community. Following her marriage to Lawrence Cumings, they moved to St. Charles. She had lived in Des Moines for 11 years. She was a member of the Winterset United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband Lawrence, one daughter and three sons of Des Moines, a brother Ray Leach of Winterset, and seven sisters, Marie Carey of St. Charles, Aletha Bussanmas of Bevington, Ida Dawson of Winterset, Wilda McManus and Fern Miller, both of Des Moines, Georgia Kinney of Peru and Alberta Sousley of Omaha, Nebraska, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dunn’s Funeral Home on Grand Avenue for Mrs. Florence Cumings, 64, of 4325 N.E. Twenty-ninth St., who died Wednesday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital after an illness of several weeks.

Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Born in Madison County, Mrs. Cumings lived in Des Moines for 11 years. She was a member of the Winterset United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence; a daughter, Mrs. Mayola Guess of Des Moines; three sons, Donald, Lawrence and Robert, all of Des Moines; a brother, Ray Leach of Winterset; seven sisters, Marie Carey of St. Charles; Aletha Bussanmas of Bevington; Ida Dawson of Winterset; Wilda McManus and Fern Miller, both of Des Moines; Georgia Kinney of Peru, Ia., and Alberta Sousley of Omaha, Neb.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
