Emma, oldest daughter of William and Mary Lodge, was born in Yorkshire, England, October 24, 1867, and passed away at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines, February 19, 1930, being 62 years, 3 months and 25 days of age.
In 1869 the family moved to America, settling in the vicinity of Bevington.
Her marriage to John H. Strable was solemnized March 11, 1891. To this union were born seven children: William S., Mary Edith, Carrie, Grace, John Howard, Joseph and Ralph, the last two having died in infancy.
In 1922, Mrs. Strable united with the United Brethren church at Blair Chapel, under the ministry of Brother Maxwell. She remained a loyal member.
She leaves to mourn her death the husband, five children, three grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. S. T. Walker, of Bevington, and Mrs. W. G. Cunningham, of Des Moines, and a brother, W. T. Lodge, of Bevington. Being a resident of this community for so long she has also left a host of friends and neighbors to grieve her passing.

Mrs. John Strable, 62, who lives south of Bevington, died Wednesday morning about ten o’clock at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines. Mrs. Strable submitted to an operation Saturday and failed to rally from its effects. Funeral services will be held Friday.
She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Howard Lull, Patterson; Mrs. Cleo Stout, Des Moines; Mrs. Arthur Dunn, Martensdale; two sons, William and John Strable; a brother, William Lodge, Bevington; and two sisters, Mrs. E. T. Walker, Bevington; Mrs. Will Cunningham, Des Moines.
