Rites Held For Claude Simmons

Claude E. Simmons, a life time resident of Madison County, died at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines last Tuesday, January 1, 1974. He was 55 years of age.

Mr. Simmons was born in Madison County on February 5, 1918, the son of George and Nellie Emerson Simmons. He was married to Wanda M. Hayden at Bethany, Mo. on November 10, 1941.

Mr. Simmons was employed as a truck driver for Madison County for 20 years. He was affiliated with the Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda, and one son, Dennis, both of Winterset. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Audrey Wilson of Santa Ana, Calif.; one brother, Paul Simmons of Des Moines; and by one grandchild. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 4 at the Grace Baptist Church in Winterset, with the Rev. Lon Reising officiating.

Burial was in the Peru Cemetery.
