Wednesday, June 25, 1941GEORGE M. BLACK Of Winterset Dies
George M. Black, one of Winterset's most widely known citizens, died at his home here Wednesday morning after several months of rapidly failing health. He was 72 years of age.
Mr. Black was a life-long resident of this county. He was born Jan. 31, 1869, in Douglas township, the son of James and Charlotte Black. He spent his life as a farmer in that township until 1910, when he moved to Winterset.
Here he worked for a number of years as representative of Peet's Manufacturing company of Council Bluffs.
He was married on Jan. 1, 1903, to Miss Maude Baker, who survives him.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday from the Methodist church here, and burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
