Mrs. Myrtle Thomas Lacy, 83, a life-long time resident of Creston, died at the Oswald nursing home here at 12:20 p.m., Tuesday after a long illness. She had lived in Creston since she was 18 years old and her home before entering the nursing home was 304 North Spruce Street.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Coens Home for funerals, Rev. G. G. Bratzel, pastor of the St. Johns United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be made in the Graceland Cemetery, Creston.

Her body will lie in state at the funeral home until time of services. The casket will not be opened at the time of services.

Myrtle Thomas was born in Madison county, Iowa in 1881, the daughter of George Washington and Mary Ann Pope Thomas. She married in Creston, November 3, 1904 to Edgar Lacy, who preceded her in death, July 10, 1954.

Mrs. Lacy is survived by four daughters: Mrs. Letha Moore of Shenandoah, Mrs. Harol Childs of Orient, Mrs. Burton (Virginia) Collings of Creston, and Mrs. Richard (Jean) Young of Austin, Texas; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren; a brother, John of Flagstaff, Arizona; one child died in infancy.

Mrs. Lacy was a member of the First Christian church and Circle of the Womens Fellowship. She was also a member of the Womans Relief Corps.
