OSCAR SHAVER OF WINTERSET DIES

Retired Farmer, Aged 87, Had Lived In Winterset In Recent Years

Oscar Shaver, a life-time resident of Madison county, died Saturday, Jan. 12 at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 87 years of age.

Daniel Oscar Shaver was born in this county May 29, 1875, a son of George and Sarah Kephart Shaver. His active life was spent in farming in the neighborhood between Patterson and St. Charles. He never married.

He was a member of the St. Charles Methodist church and a past member of the Odd Fellows lodge at St. Charles.

He retired from farming 22 years ago and had been making his home in Winterset.

He leaves two sisters, Mrs. Alley Taylor of Caldwell, Ida., and Mrs. Lula Richardson of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Walter A. Samp of Winterset. Burial was made in Blair Chapel cemetery.
