Page 1Death of Thornton Young
Thornton Young, of St. Marys, a former resident of this county, died Thursday, March 28th, at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines. He had been ill with stomach trouble.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 30th, at the Union Chapel church, near St. Charles.
Mr. Young leaves several children, two of whom reside in this county, Mrs. Roy Foley and Mrs. Nellie McKeever.

Thornton Young, former resident of Madison county, died March 28, after a brief illness at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services were conducted at Union Chapel by the Rev. Fred Barnes, of St. Charles, and burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Young who was about sixty-six years old, was a member of an old Warren county family, the son of William and Lucinda Young, who settled in Warren in 1849. His marriage to Martha Harlan occurred in 1887, who with nine of their twelve children survive. His sons and daughters who live near Winterset are Fred, Loyd and Donal, of St. Marys; Luther of Indianola; Mrs. Nellie McKeever, Peru; Mrs. Roy Foley, Barney; Mrs. Hyle Young, New Virginia; Mrs. D. Carpenter, Indianola. Oscar and H. A. Young of Orient, William Young, of St. Charles, and Mrs. John Gamble, of Winterset, are brothers and sisters. Other relatives live at a distance.
Mr. Young had lived practically all his life in Warren and Madison counties, spending two years in North Dakota.
