MORTUARY

W. H. Turner

On the fourth day of April, 1865, there was born to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Turner, then of Clarke county, Iowa, a son, whom they named Walter Hermon. After a sojourn of almost sixty-four years, he died on the morning of March 15, 1929.

While in early manhood he openly declared his love for Christ and united with the church in Winterset, moving his membership in 1912 to the Madison Chapel church and then after moving into Truro placed his membership in the Christian church there, where he has been active in service for approximately fourteen years, serving in different capacities, including superintendent of the Sunday school and financial secretary of the church.

On September 29, 1887, he was married to Miss Emma Klein, who laid aside her earthly house a few years ago. To them were born two children, Harry F., of Des Moines, and Mrs. Ruby F. Camp, of Truro. He is survived also by three brothers, J. F., of Winterset; W. L., of Des Moines, and F. D., of Beloit, Wisconsin; his three grandchildren and many other relatives and a large number of friends.

He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, Pythian Sisters, Ivy Lodge 483, A. F. & A. M., and the Eastern Star, of Truro. He was also a member of the Consistory and Shrine, of Des Moines, and of the Royal Arch of Masonry of Osceola. He will be missed by many as an active citizen, a good neighbor and a warm friend.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church Monday, March 18, at 11 o’clock, conducted by the Rev. Rue Burnell, assisted by the Rev. Cottingham. Masonic services were given by Henry Davis, of Winterset. Interment was made in the Union cemetery, by the side of his wife, who departed this life three years ago.

Relatives attending from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Harry F. Turner and family and Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Turner, of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Turner, of Winterset; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Klein, H. H. Klein, Miss Jennie Klein and Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Arnold, all of Murray.
