RUTH I. OLMSTEAD Died Here July 19

Ruth Olmstead of Lorimor died at Memorial Hospital here last Monday, July 19, 1971, at the age of 89.

She was the daughter of John and Rosetta Smith, and was born near Truro on October 10, 1881. She was married to J. D. Dowler on October 9, 1901. She was married later in life to Elmer Olmstead of Adrian, Michigan.

She was a member of the Methodist Church of Lorimor.

She is survived by four children, Mrs. Marie Slinker of Lorimor, Joe Dowler of Lorimor, Harold Dowler of Omaha, and Mrs. Hazel O. Donnell of Council Bluffs. Nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Lyan of Whittier, Iowa, also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Lorimor on Wednesday, July 21 at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. James Morris of Afton officiating. Burial was in the Lorimor Cemetery.

Ruth Olmstead, Lorimor, Dies

LORIMOR—Mrs. Ruth Irene Olmstead, 89, of Lorimor, died today at the Madison county Memorial hospital at Winterset.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lorimor United Methodist church. Rev. James Morris, pastor of the Afton United Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Lorimor cemetery.

Ruth Irene Smith was born at Jewell, Oct. 10, 1881. She was the daughter of John and Rosetta Smith.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Marie Slenker, of Lorimor and Mrs. Hazel O’Donald of Council Bluffs; two sons, Harold Dowler of Omaha, Nebr., and Joe Dowler of Omaha, Nebr.; nine grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Lyon of Whittier. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and three sisters.

She was a member of the Lorimor United Methodist church.

Per 1901 Madison County Marriage Record, her maiden name is "Olmstead" and her mother's maiden name is Smith.

Per obituary of Frederick Heyl, he was married to the deceased in about 1929.
