Cindi C. Selim, 49, of rural Shannon City died June 24, 2000 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 27, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston with the Rev. Pam Farren officiating. Burial was at Greenlawn Cemetery, Afton.

Cindi Selim was born Oct. 23, 1950 in Winterset to William R. and Lillian L. (Normandin) White. A 1969 graduate of Orient-Macksburg High School, she married Harold A. Selim on June 2, 1968. Cindi had sold Bee-Line Fashions and for 30 years helped her husband manage all aspects of farming. She also served as postmistress of the Thayer Post Office since 1994 and sang professionally. She was a member of the Arispe United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star (Past Worthy Matron), Farm Bureau, Iowa Pork Producers (board of the state Porkettes), the Card Club and Women Taking Stock.

She was preceded in death by her father, a daughter-in-law and her father-in-law.

She is survived by her husband; her mother and stepfather, Lillian and Everett Sweet of Macksburg; a son, Shane Selim (wife Tahnee) of Afton; a daughter, Jodie Pettit (husband Rick) of Ames; two brothers, Larry White (wife Jennifer) of Macksburg and Dave White (wife Joyce) of Newton; a sister, Lois Stil (husband Jim) of Granger; a brother-in-law, Richard Selim (wife Grace) of Creston; and three grandchildren.
