Funeral Rites Held Last Thursday, With Burial at St. Charles
St. Charles--Lewis W. Lynch, retired St. Charles business man and long time resident, died Monday, March 10, at the home of his daughter near here. He was 79 years of age.
Mr. Lynch was born Feb. 15, 1873, at Galiatin, Mo., a son of John and Mary Ann McBrayer Lynch. His early life was spent in Missouri, and he came to St. Charles in 1899. He engaged in the produce and feed business here until 1925, when he retired to an acreage at the edge of town.
In 1902, he was married to Mary Shreves, whose death occurred in 1904, three days following the birth of their only child, Zella Marie. In December, 1905, he was married to Leana VanScoy Haselinger, who preceded him in death on Jan. 5, 1945. They were the parents of one son, Homer Dean.
He is survived by the daughter, now Mrs. Harry Gray, and the son, Homer D. Lynch, both of St. Charles; a step-son, Henry Haselinger of Apple Valley, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. A. A. Hartman of Idaho Falls, Ida., and Mrs. Minnie Green of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two step-grandsons.
Funeral services were held last Thursday from the St. Charles Methodist church, with the Rev. Joe King officiating and the Rev. Eldon Haworth assisting. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
