JAMES M. PURSCELL DIED HERE SUNDAY

Life-Long Resident of This County Was 72 Years of Age

James M. Purscell, life-time resident of Madison county, died at his home in Winterset Sunday, March 16, following a long illness. He was 72 years of age.

Mr. Purscell was born in Madison county Nov. 29, 1879. Most of his life was spent in Winterset, where he was employed, during his active years by the Mardis Coal and Feed Business and by M. Young and company.

He was married to Hattie M. Howard, who survives him. He also leaves five sons, Fred, Joe and Everett Purscell, all of Des Moines, Louis Purscell of Colfax, Guy Purscell of Winterset, and Sgt. Lawrence Purscell, who is stationed in Japan with the U.S. air forces; in addition to two brothers, Bill and Charles Purscell of Winterset; a sister, Mrs. Mae Smith of Creston; and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral service arrangements are being delayed pending the arrival home from Japan of Sergeant Purscell. Meantime, the body is at the Anderson home for funerals.
