Mrs. Harriett Scott

Harriett Louisa Barnes, daughter of Harry M. and Louisa M. Barnes was born at Fairfield, Herkimer County, N. Y., Aug. 28, 1847 and died Aug. 7, 1916 at her home in Truro, Iowa.

In 1856, she moved with her parents to Stephenson county, Illinois. She was married to Chas. F. Scott at Freeport, Ill., Nov. 2, 1870. This union was blessed with 8 children-5 boys and 3 girls; Harry B. and Louisa M., of Truro; Thomas W. deceased; George E. of Carroll, Iowa; Mrs. P. H. Deardorff of Silt, Colo.; Chester A. of Seattle, Wash.; Ross E. of Denver, Colo.; and Mrs. J. F. Leggett of Chugwater, Wyo. Besides the children she leaves to mourn her loss two brothers; Whiting and Jered Barnes of Pearl City, Ill., and 13 grandchildren.

At an early age she united with the Evangelical church, from which her membership was never transferred.

The funeral services were conducted at the Christian church by Rev. Fred W. Hagan, after which the body was laid to rest in the St. Charles cemetery.
