CLAYTON SCOTT NATIVE OF THAYER

Clayton C. Scott, the former resident of near Winterset who was fatally injured May 16 in a tractor accident at his farm home near Dexter, was a native of Union county. He was born at Thayer Aug. 20, 1918. His early life was spent near Arispe and Shannon City.

He became a member of the Dexter Presbyterian church on April 24, 1948, and served as a Trustee, has served on various committees, has taken a very active roll in church and could be counted on when called upon. Clayton often volunteered to do anything that would help the mission of the church, here in Dexter and the church's mission at large.

He entered the United States Army January 1, 1942, spending three years and seven months with the 32nd Red Arrow Inf. Division in the South Pacific. He was discharged on August 26, 1945 from Fort Leavenworth.

He was married to Irene Hill on March 2, 1947 in Dexter. He farmed for 21 years, moving to Guthrie County in 1965, purchasing a farm near Dexter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
