Mary Schaffer, St. Charles

Mary Diane Schaffer, 36, of St. Charles died Feb. 27, 2001 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines as the result of head injuries in a fall.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 3, at St. Charles Parish Church with the Rev. Darold Snow officiating. Interment of cremains was at St. Charles Cemetery.

Mary Schaffer was born Jan. 3, 1965 in Des Moines to Walter and Helen (Brownlee) Schaffer. A graduate of Interstate 35 High School, she had been employed for the past two years as a data entry clerk for Consultec in Des Moines. Mary had spent most of her life in the St. Charles area, having lived for a few years in the Winterset area before moving back to the family farm in 1995. She was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother-in-law and a nephew.

She is survived by her companion, Dan Wildin of St. Charles; a brother, Dick Schaffer (wife Dawn) of Burien, Wash.; two sisters, Pat Ratcliff (husband Harlan) of Dallas Center and Marilyn Lawshe of Grimes; and two nieces.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Homes of Truro and Osceola.
