Mrs. Alma Carnagan died at a nursing home in California Saturday, Feb. 9, after an illness of four and one-half years, caused by a fractured hip and complications.
Mrs. Carnagan was the former Alma Carter and was born near Winterset Oct. 10, 1875, a daughter of James and Tabitha Ryner Carter.
Near surviving relatives include a daughter, Mrs. Wilhelmina Lenhart of Downey, Calif.; a son, Howard Carter of Golden, Colo.; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Ethyl Carter of Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held this Friday, Feb. 15 from the Lilly Funeral home in Des Moines. Burial will be made in the Mt. Pelier cemetery near Patterson.

Services will be at 1 p. m. Friday at the Joseph Lilly Funeral home for Mrs. Alma Carnagan, 76, former Des Moines resident who died Saturday at a San Gabriel, Cal., nursing home. Burial will be at Patterson
Complications following a broken hip caused Mrs. Carnagan's death. She had been in ill health more than four years. A Des Moines resident for 25 years, Mrs. Carnagan went to the coast five years ago.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Wilhelmina Lenhart, Downey, Cal.; a son, Howard, Golden Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Carter, Des Moines; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

February, 1952Services for Mrs. Alma Carnagan, 76, of Downey, Cal., former Des Moines resident, will be at 1 p. m. Friday at the Joseph Lilly funeral home, with burial in the family plot at Patterson.
Mrs. Carnagan died Saturday in a San Gabriel, Cal., hospital following a long illness. A native of Winterset, Mrs. Carnagan lived in Des Moines 25 years before moving to Downey in 1945 to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Donald Lenhart.
Mrs. Carnagan was a member of Epworth Methodist church, Golden Star Rebekah lodge, and the daughters of Union Veterans, and was a past president of the Auxiliary of the Sons of Union Veterans.
Surviving besides Mrs. Lenhart are a son, Howard of Golden Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Carter of Des Moines; six grand children and two great-grandchildren.
