Ralph Berry Saxton

Ralph Berry Saxton, second son of Harry G. and Cora Berry Saxton was born January 4, 1899 in Madison county, Iowa and passed away June 13, 1962 at the age of 63 years, 5 months and 9 days.

He grew to manhood near Macksburg, attending school there. He joined the armed service in October of 1918. Soon after his discharge, he moved to Lorimor, and was united in marriage to Bertha Pinckney on April 28, 1920. To this union were born four children, Mrs. Lorene Corsbie of Lorimor, Mrs. Carol Thomas of Cambria, Galen Saxton of Creston and Paul Saxton of Ames.

They made their home in Lorimor all their married years with the exception of about three years when they resided in Winterset. He operated the Saxton Auto Co. for 17 years until 1953. Since that time he was engaged in farming.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha, two brothers, Mott of Winterset, and Chester of Mishawaka, Indiana, his two sons and two daughters and 12 grandchildren.

He was a loving husband and father and greatly respected by all in his community.

Ralph Saxton, 65, Of Lorimor, Dies

LORIMOR—Ralph Saxton, 65, was found dead on the farm of Dr. C. F. McDonald, south of Lorimor, Wednesday evening. He had been building a pond on the farm.

When Mr. Saxton did not return home for supper, his son-in-law, Vernie Corsbie, went to the farm to find him. He found him dead near the tractor he had been operating. He apparently had been dead for some time.

His body is at the Watts-Soll funeral home at Lorimor.

Mr. Saxton is survived by his widow, Bertha; two daughters, Mrs. Lorene Corsbie of Lorimor and Mrs. Carol Thomas of Cambria; two sons, Galen Saxton of Creston and Paul Saxton of Ames; and two brothers, Matt Saxton of Winterset and Chester Saxton in Illinois.

Mr. Saxton operated the Saxton garage in Lorimor for many years but had sold it. He was a veteran of military service in World war I.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Methodist church in Lorimor with Rev. Donald Franks officiating. Burial will be in the Macksburg cemetery.
