Ray Sawhill Death

Ray Sawhill, a former Madison county resident, died Dec. 5 at a hospital in Whittier, California. He was 76 years of age. He was born near Winterset on July 16, 1891, a son of Wallace and Clara George Sawhill. He received a B.A. degree from Colorado College at Colorado Springs, Colorado and his Master's degree from the University of Iowa. For many years he was a salesman of the Cole Chemical Co. The family home is in LaHabra. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Munford Sawhill; a son, James Wallace Sawhill of Canoga Park, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. John MacKay of Castro Valley, Calif.; and six grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, Gaylord Sawhill and a sister, Mrs. Bessie Gillespie of Winterset, Iowa and another sister, Mrs. Bertha Dilts of Colorado Springs.

Services and burial were held in California.
