Thomas Allison Chilcote, who had resided in Winterset the past eighteen months, died last Friday morning, April 19th, at his home on East Washington street. Mr. Chilcote had been in poor health for some time, having had diabetes and complications, but his condition was not adjudged serious. His death came suddenly, at the age of 55 years.

Mr. Chilcote was a son of Thomas and Louise Chilcote, and was born in Wayne county, January 23, 1874. When a small child he came with the family to Madison county, where his boyhood was spent on a farm.

He was married to Estella Gripp, on August 15, 1903. They moved to Wyoming in 1909 and lived there for fifteen years. In 1925 they moved to St. Charles, where they resided until they moved to Winterset. Mr. Chilcote is survived by his wife and ten children: Edna Patterson, of Laramie, Wyoming; Barton Chilcote, of Scotia Bluffs, Nebraska, Mrs. Irene Miller, of Winterset, and Opal, Pearl Gladys, Grace, Alva, Thomas Junior, Betty Darlene and Robert Nolan, in the home. He also leaves five grandchildren, Dorothy Irene and Claude Earl Miller, and Doris, Phillip and Patricia Ann Patterson, and four sisters: Mrs. Edna Poindexter, of Dix, Nebraska; Mrs. Callie Loener, of Hillsdale, Wyoming; Mrs. Myrtle Bertholf, of Baxley, George, and Mrs. Inez Wells, of Kansas City, and one brother, Leroy Chilcote, of Devide, Wyoming.

The Rev. A. P. Keast conducted a prayer service at Tidrick’s funeral home on Monday morning, April 22, at 11 o’clock, and in the afternoon, at the St. Charles Methodist church. Rev. A. E. George, of Mitchellville, assisted by the Rev. F. G. Barnes, of St. Charles, conducted the services. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
