Services for Gary Scott Sadler, 16, of rural Winterset, who died Thursday, Jan. 23 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center, were held Monday afternoon, Jan. 27 at Christian Union Church in Milo. Burial was in the Liberty Center Cemetery.
Polk County Medical Examiner Dr. R. C. Wooters ruled the death resulted from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the boy's home. Madison County authorities had been called to the home Thursday morning and he was transported to the Des Moines hospital.
He was born in Des Moines, lived in Liberty Center, before moving to Winterset and was a student at Winterset High School.
Survivors include his parents, Larry and Audrey Sadler; a brother, Ron of Indianola; sisters, Janella Tyler of Indianola and Connie Putz of Des Moines; and his grandparents, Minnie Ludwick of Waukee, Vasca Sadler of Mingo and Ivan Sadler of Altoona.
