Death of Martin Rowe

The death of Martin Rowe of Macksburg, occurred late Sunday night, following two weeks' illness which began with neuralgia of the heart. He came from Pennsylvania to Madison county in 1863, enlisting soon after in the Seventh Iowa Infantry. After the war, he permanently located in Madison county in Grand River township, living there until three years ago, when he retired and settled in Macksburg, after a life of success as an agriculturist.

Mr. Rowe, who would have been eighty three years old in April, was a man highly respected by all who knew him. Two sisters and two brothers survive him as do two sons and three daughters. Funeral arrangements are delayed, waiting word from relatives.

Mrs. Wesley Love is having quite a spell of sickness at her home in Macksburg being confined to her bed for several weeks. Her father, Mart Rowe, was buried in the Macksburg cemetery last Wednesday. Thus another pioneer farmer of Madison County has gone. Of the four brothers - Mart, Andy, Dave, and Henry - only Henry is left.
