Winterset, Iowa
Friday, January 11, 1889It is said that old Mrs. Martino, who committed suicide last November rests uneasily in the grave and that her ghost has been seen lingering about the places she formerly frequented. Her husband and daughter tell weird stories of her appearances to them at different times.
_________________________Coordinator's note: Reference the first obituary, The Madisonian was published on Fridays at that time so either the date is wrong or the article is from another, unidentified newspaper. There were other newspapers published in Winterset in that era but they were not preserved. Her maiden name is not verified.
