Life-Long Resident There Succumbs at Age of 82 Years
Patterson--Butler B. Stout, prominent retired farmer of this community, died Friday, Nov. 16 at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines after an extended illness. He was 82 years of age.
Mr. Stout was born near Patterson on April 8, 1868. He was the last survivor among the nine children born to Elvis and Abagill Brassfield Stout. He also had 12 half brothers and half sisters.
He was married to Eunice Miles in 1896. They were the parents of nine children, two of whom preceded him in death.
He had been a member of the Patterson Methodist church since 1888.
Surviving are his wife; seven sons, Raymond, Mike, Cleo and Kale Stout, all of Des Moines; Vernon and Dale Stout of Council Bluffs and Glen Stout of Carson; 11 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Patterson Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. Eldon Haworth. Burial was made in the Patterson cemetery.
