Winterset, IowaDAVID W. ALGOE DIES AT 66 YEARS
Had Lived Continuously in Scott Township Since 1907
David W. Algoe, a prominent Scott township farmer since 1907, died here last Wednesday, Oct. 10. He was 66 years of age.
Mr. Algoe was a native of Illinois, where he was born in Livingston county, near Pontiac, on Feb. 18, 1885. He was a son of Robert A. and Minnie Algoe. As a boy he moved with his parents to Nebraska, and in 1903 he came to Madison county.
He was married Feb. 10, 1907, to Emma Elizabeth Haines. They established their home in Scott township, where it remained until his death.
Mr. Algoe was a charter member of the Zion Federated church near his home, and had served as an elder in the church since 1920. He was active in the affairs of his community over a long period of years.
Surviving are his wife; six children, Mrs. Goldie Lightner, and Raymond and John Algoe of Peru; Mrs. Ruby Gray of Earlham; and Mrs. Pearl Tyer and Mrs. Elsie Satterlee of Winterset. He also leaves 15 grandchildren; a great granddaughter; two brothers, John Algoe of Vail and Clarence Algoe of Peru; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Blosser of Patterson and Mrs. Ida Criss of St. Charles.
Funeral services were held Friday from the Richards Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Boyd Zoeller. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
