February 1895Mrs. John Dewitt - Again the pale messenger of death has visited our quiet little village, this time stopping at the home of Mother Maskel, on Feb 27th, and carried her over the stormy river but she was ready and is now safely housed in the blessed home of all God's people in Heaven, thus those who are left to sorrow and mourn, sorrow not without hope for their loss in her everlasting gain.
The deceased was born in Ohio in 1817 and was married to John DeWitt in 1836; to them were born thirteen children, six of whom are in the sweet bye and bye; in 1864 her husband left her to struggle through life alone but now all is over and she is at rest with the part of her family gone before. Peace be to her silent dust. Funeral services were held at her late residence conducted by the writer. J. H. Creger
