BARNEY AND VICINITY

This community was called upon Friday to mourn the loss of one of its most popular young men. Mr. Orville Rankin, aged 17 years, June 18th, 1895. He was attending Highland Park College, Des Moines, but becoming ill he came home. The last week he grew worse and although the best medical aid was secured; he continued to sink and Friday at 4:20 o’clock he called his parents and brother to his bedside, bid them good-by, requested them to meet him in heaven, and in a few minutes his spirit had taken its flight heavenward. A large concourse of people followed the remains to the Christian church where Rev. Knepper preached the funeral to over two hundred people. His parents have the heartfelt sympathy of a host of friends.
