Death of Sarah Nicholl

Mrs. Sarah Nicholl died at her home in St. Charles July 23d. About a year ago she was injured in a fall and had been in ill health since. Funeral services were held Friday, July 26th, in the United Presbyterian church at St. Charles and burial was in the St. Charles cemetery. Her husband and two daughters preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her loss two daughters, Mrs. Mattie Sheets and Mary; two sons, James and Robert; four grandchildren, three sisters, four brothers and many other relatives and friends. Mrs. Nicholl was born in County Antrim, Ireland, on January 24, 1851. In 1878 she moved to Illinois, where she was united in marriage to David L. Nicholl, on April 13, 1878. Mr. and Mrs. Nicholl located in Warren county in 1882, moving to St. Charles in 1912, where Mrs. Nicholl made her home until her death.

Mrs. Sarah Nicholl

Sarah C. Blair was born in County Antrim, Ireland, on January 24, 1851. In 1878 she moved to Illinois. She was united in marriage to David L. Nicholl, on April 13, 1878. To this union were born four daughters: Mattie, Mary, Maggie and Saddie, and two sons, James and Robert.

Mr. and Mrs. Nicholl located in Warren county in 1882 and moved to St. Charles in 1912, where she remained until her death on July 23, 1929, aged 78 years, 5 months and 29 days. She joined the United Presbyterian church in girlhood and remained a member until her death.

She leaves to mourn her loss two daughters, Mrs. Mattie Sheets and Miss Mary, who lived with her mother, and two sons, James and Robert, four grandchildren, three sisters, four brothers, and many other relatives and friends. Her husband and two daughters, Maggie and Sadie, preceded her in death. Mrs. Nicholl had been a sufferer for several years. About a year ago she fell and hurt her head and neck. Since then she had been a great sufferer and required constant care. She was kindly and tenderly cared for by her four children.

Funeral services were held in the United Presbyterian church last Friday, July 26th, at 2 o’clock and burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
