Nancy Jane White

Nancy Jane White, daughter of Elisha and Mary Taylor, was born at Hiram, Ohio, on June 2, 1846, and died at her home near Winterset, August 2, 1929, having reached the age of 83 years and two months.

Early in life she was married to Edmund N. White, at Cleveland, Ohio, and to the union the following children were born, all of whom survive save one: Mrs. Carrie Fritz, of Louisville, Kentucky; Gordon, now deceased; Benjamin, of Clive; Mrs. Alice I’Kerd, of Des Moines; Frank and Myrtle, who live on the home place, and Printiss, who lives in California. In addition to these are five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. White preceded his wife in death several years ago, dying in 1922.

Mrs. White spent most of her life in Iowa, with the exception of her early years, which were spent in Ohio, and a brief period of residence in Missouri.

At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as a personal Savior, and united with the Primitive Baptist church. Her religion was evidenced by her kindly patient ways and loving ministrations among the sick and needy.

Mrs. White had been an invalid for about one and a half years, but about five months ago her trouble became more pronounced and finally resulted in her death.

Funeral services were held for her on Sunday, August 3, at Tidrick’s funeral home, with the Rev. John T. Hall, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Interment was in the Primitive Baptist cemetery.
