Wednesday, November 30, 1988Services for Vearl Slaybaugh, 86, Macksburg, who died Nov. 22, 1988, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center, were held Friday, Nov. 25, at the Macksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charlie Morrow officiating. Burial was at the Moon Cemetery.
A retired farmer, Mr. Slaybaugh was a lifetime resident of the Macksburg area. Born June 12, 1902, he was the son of Josia and Letha Sipe Slaybaugh. He was married to Ploma Crist on June 12, 1926 at Creston.
Mr. Slaybaugh was a member of the Macksburg United Methodist Church, the Winterset Multi-Purpose Center and attended the congregate meals at Macksburg.
Survivors include a son, Melvin and wife, Shirley of Waukee; a brother, Lynn Slaybaugh of Lowry City, Mo.; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers and three sisters.
