Macksburg Woman Died Aug. 21 at Home of Daughter, Mrs. Oreen Wallace
Macksburg--Funeral services for Mrs. Ada Eyerly of this community were held Aug. 24 from the Macksburg Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. James Wilkins. Burial was made in the Macksburg cemetery.
Mrs. Eyerly, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Aug. 21 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Oreen Wallace of Macksburg at the age of 73 years. She had suffered a heart attack in June, from which she never fully recovered.
Mrs. Eyerly was the former Ada Martha Speer, daughter of William and Mary Speer. She was born Aug. 24, 1877, at Pitzer, where her early life was spent. She was married to Will C. Eyerly on Nov. 30, 1898. They lived in the Pitzer and later the West Star communities until 1912, when they moved to Grand River township. After her husband's death in 1936 she moved into Macksburg.
She united with the Pitzer U. P. church at an early age, later transferring to the Macksburg Methodist church, in which she remained active until the time of her death.
Mrs. Eyerly was the mother of six children: Orris Eyerly of Winterset, Mrs. Wallace of Macksburg, Mrs. Alice Lawless of Brighton, Colo., Rolla Eyerly of Winterset, Ralph Eyerly of Macksburg, and Wayne Eyerly whose death occurred at the age of nine years. In addition to the five children, she leaves 16 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Hampton of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Clare Lyddon of Adair.
