Hazel Schminke, Vinton

Funeral services for Hazel Bernice Schminke, 90, were held Sat., Jan. 9 at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall. Mrs. Schminke died January 6, 1993, at Vinton Lutheran Home where she had been a resident since 1988,. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.

Mrs. Schminke was born March 24, 1902, in Benton County to Neal and Laura (Waddell) Kraft. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall and was a member of many church organizations. Before her retirement she was employed at Hilda’s Flower Shop, J.C. Penney’s and the Vinton Lutheran home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, John Vogt and Ervin Lauterwasser; two stepsons; three brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Schminke of Vinton; two daughters, Audrey Woolums of Grandbury, Texas, and Arlene Eckhart of Williamsburg; three stepsons, Virgil Schminke of Van Horne, Glenn Schminke of Hiawatha, and Gerald Schminke of Waverly; three stepdaughters, Kathleen (Lauterwasser) Thompson, Gladys (Schminke) Hagen, both of Van Horne, and Velma (Schminke) Van Scoy of Winterset; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Earl Kraft of Calif. And one sister, Lillian Stroud of Indiana.
