JOHN W. ROSS OF MACKSBURG DIES

Death Occurred Friday Enroute To Enter Hospital in Winterset

John W. Ross, member of a well-known family in the Macksburg community, died Friday, Feb. 4 at the age of 61 years. His death occurred as he was being brought to the hospital in Winterset.

Mr. Ross was born in Madison county Jan. 17, 1905 a son of Frank D. and Myrtle Love Ross. Most of his life was spent in this county. He was a carpenter by trade.

He was a member of the Macksburg Methodist church and a former member of the I.O.O.F. lodge. He had served on the Macksburg town council.

Mr. Ross was married Dec. 29, 1934 at Dunlap, to Lorene Graham. Her death occurred in 1960.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Carol Lee Nahas of Des Moines; two sons, Donald F. Ross of Des Moines and John E. Ross of Edwards Air Force near Lancaster, Calif.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Elton King of Winterset and Mrs. Jesse James of Wellman; and a brother, Russell R. Ross of Santa Maria, Calif.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Macksburg Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. W. W. Richardson. Burial was made in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
