Fred Ross, 74 Dies July 3

Fred L. Ross, 74, of rural Murray, died Monday, July 3 at Des Moines General Hospital.

His funeral was Thursday July 6 at 11 a.m. at the Murray Church of Christ with Rev. John H. Ackerman officiating. Burial was in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg.

A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.

Ross was born March 19, 1904 in Madison County to Walter Franklin and Mary Ann McKibban Ross. On September 28, 1927, he married Blanche E. Henry in Creston.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Audrey) Husted of Ojai, California, Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Lossner of Norwalk, Carol Ross of Des Moines; two sons, Ronald Ross of Los Angeles and Marvin Ross of Upland, California; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Henry of Quinlan, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, a brother and a sister.

Ross spent most of his life in Madison and Union Counties and was a farmer and a truck driver. He moved to Murray in 1960.

Watts-Lindsay Funeral Home in Murray was in charge of arrangements.
