ELLA HORAN DIED LAST THURSDAY

Fractured Hip, Sustained in Fall Several Months Ago, Proves Fatal

Ella Horan, member of a pioneer family of the Irish settlement in Lee township, died at the Madison county Memorial hospital here last Thursday. Death resulted from complications which followed after she received a fractured hip in a fall several months ago. She had been a patient at the hospital here since receiving the injury.

Miss Horan was 80 years of age at the time of her death. She was born in Crawford township June 29, 1870, a daughter of Timothy and Ellen Tobin Horan. As a child, she moved with her parents to Lee township, where most of her life was spent. Twelve years ago, she moved into Winterset, and had been making her home on West North street.

Miss Horan was an active life-long member of the Catholic church. At the time of her death she was a member of St. Joseph's parish in Winterset, and was a member of St. Joseph's Altar society.

Nearest surviving relatives include her sister, Mrs. Julia McLaughlin and a number of nieces and nephews.

Requiem High Mass was celebrated for Miss Horan by the Rev. J. J. Judge at St. Joseph's Catholic church here last Saturday. Burial was made in St. Patrick's cemetery at the Irish settlement.
