REX R. OLMSTEAD DIES AT 64 YEARS

Served As Clerk in Local Postoffice for 33 Years

Rex R. Olmstead, a clerk at the Winterset postoffice for 33 years, died Thursday, April 26 at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines, after a lingering illness of several years. He was 64 years of age.

Mr. Olmstead was a native of Illinois, where he was born at Victoria on Sept. 23, 1886, a son of Aaron and Esther Robbins Olmstead. He graduated from Victoria high school and later attended college in Galesburg.

In 1907, Mr. Olmstead came to Winterset. He worked first as a bookkeeper in an implement store here, before joining the staff of the Winterset postoffice. He was married here Oct. 27, 1908, to Harriett McDole, who survives him.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge in Winterset.

Mr. Olmstead had been an invalid since suffering a stroke five years ago. Two years ago, he and Mrs. Olmstead moved to Des Moines to make their home.

In addition to his wife, his is survived by his daughter, Mrs. A. L. Klein of Des Moines; one grandson, three brothers, Lester Olmstead of Van Wert, Winthrop A. Olmstead of Harpersville, N. Y., and Paul R. Olmstead of Victoria; and a sister, Mrs. Hazel Moak of Victoria.

Funeral services were held from the Winterset Methodist church Monday, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Glenn Parrott. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
