WALTER ABRAHAMS RITES HELD THURSDAY

Former Winterset Resident Died April 17 in Des Moines

The Rev. E. D. Rapp, pastor of the First Baptist church of Winterset, conducted funeral services here last Thursday for Walter L. Abrahams, whose death had occurred April 17 at his home in Des Moines. The rites were held from Anderson's home for funerals. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Mr. Abrahams had been in failing health for three years. He was a native of Madison county and had spent most of his life in this community. He was born in Douglas township May 16, 1887, a son of James and Clara Sargent Abrahams. His early life was spent in farming. In 1930, he moved to Winterset, where he engaged in the produce business for a time, and then in trucking.

He was married Feb. 26, 1913, to Virgie Eldridge. They were the parents of four children, all of whom survive.

Mr. Abrahams was active in the First Baptist church of Winterset. He served as trustee and deacon for many years.

He leaves his wife; the four children, Dean Abrahams of Tempe, Ariz., Mrs. Carl Porter of Winterset, and Don and Annice of Des Moines; two brothers, Will and Leonard Abrahams, and a sister, Laura Abrahams, all of Winterset; in addition to five grandchildren.
