BEN DAY DIED AT NEWTON LAST WEEK

Resident Here Most of His Life; Left Winterset in 1940

Ben Day, a resident of Madison county most of his life, died last Wednesday, March 14, at Newton, where he had been living for the past 11 years. He was 81 years of age. His death occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Dodd.

Mr. Day was a native of Illinois but came to Story county, Iowa, in 1892. There he was married to Miss Jennie Page. They came to Madison county to make their home, and farmed here for many years. They also spent some years in Winterset.

Mr. Day left Winterset in 1940, to make his home with his daughter in Newton.

He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Virgil Day of Osceola and Russell Day of Winterset, Myrtle Day of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Dodd of Newton. He also leaves 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Friday at Newton, and burial was made in Story county.
