February 1972Joseph Roach Dies at 58 Years
Joseph J. Roach of Council Bluffs, a native of Madison County and member of a prominent family in the Bevington community, died last Wednesday, Feb. 23, at a hospital in Council Bluffs. He had been ill several days. He was 58 years of age.
Mr. Roach was born in Madison county June 19, 1913, a son of the late Martin J. and Margaret Cunningham Roach. He was a graduate of Winterset High School. He and his family had lived in Council Bluffs for about 22 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jan, and their five children, James J.., Jana Lee, Jody, Julia and Jennifer. He also leaves two brothers, the Rev. Daniel C. Roach, a Blessed Sacrament father in Manilla, Philippine Islands and Kiernan Roach of Roundup, Mont.; and two sisters, Mrs. Jack Drees of LaGrange, Ill., and Mrs. Eleanor L'Estrange of Lee township. Another brother, Martin Roach of Winterset, died last October.
Rosary services were held last Friday from the Beem-Belford chapel in Council Bluffs, and requiem Mass last Saturday from St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Council Bluffs. Burial was made in St. Joseph's cemetery there.
