LON SMITH, 88, Died Thursday

Lon E. Smith of Macksburg died Thursday, May 2, 1968, at Memorial hospital in Winterset at the age of 88 years.

He was married Jan. 8, 1903, to Jennie Webster. Fifty-eight years ago, they operated a general store at Kasson, which was the last place of business in that community.

He was a member of the Christian Church.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, and one son, Dale Smith.

Surviving are four sons, Lyle Smith of Macksburg, Ernest Smith of Durand, Ill., Lester and Rollin Smith of Tucson, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Farlin of Coeur d'Alene, Ida.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Macksburg Methodist church, conducted by the Rev. Bob Almquist. Burial was made in Clarke cemetery in Monroe township.
