LEVI SMITH, Des Moines

Levi Bud Smith, 85, of Des Moines, died of heart failure July 15, 1995 in Winterset. He was a resident of the Winterset Care Center South. Funeral services were today, Wednesday, July 19 at 10 a.m. at Southtown Funeral Home. Burial was at the Sunset Memorial Gardens.

He was the great-great-grandson of Ruth and Caleb Clark, the first settlers of Madison County. He was born in Winterset and was a retired equipment operator and member of Operating Engineers Union Local 234. He had served in the army during WW II.

Surviving relatives include two stepsons, Leon L. Butler of Des Moines and Jerry Butler of Salem, Ore., 8 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
